SEO consulting

Write a search proposal a non-specialist can compare.

SEO consultants are hired after a year of authority-building and no change in the pages that should bring revenue. Write the engagement around those pages, the queries, and what will be different in the timeline.

The pages that should bring the revenue

Name the pages or the templates. The service page for the thing they actually sell. The category that should rank in the city they serve. The comparison page a salesperson keeps wishing existed. A proposal about the health of the domain, with no page attached to money, will be indistinguishable from the report they already have.

Say which queries, in their language. Not a thousand keywords. The handful of searches a buyer types. If you need a week to confirm them, put that week in the timeline and do not invent the list in the proposal.

A report a non-specialist can compare

Promise a before and after they can read without you. The page, the query, the position or the clicks, the change you made. Monthly rankings of the whole site are how the last retainer survived without a result. Offer a shorter document.

Link building as a vague ongoing activity, a new website, and a content mill are the usual hiding places. If links are in scope, say how many, to which pages, and what you will not buy. If a rewrite needs a developer, say the client supplies the person who ships the change.
